(Drinking Trends) We love Mezcal, and so should you! Why? Well besides being the most characterful, most artisanal, and most interesting spirit out there, Mezcal is a whole heap of fun. And lucky Londoners find themselves blessed this week with the first London Mezcal Week. LMW is Organised by two of London’s most dedicated Mezcal enthusiasts, Thea Cumming and Melanie Symonds, the founders of  Dangerous Don and Quiquiriqui Mezcals. Melanie and Thea have been working on promoting the mezcal category here in the UK and are committed to working closely with smaller producers.

The series of events will be produced by Lucie Massey, who organises the sell-out pop-up series ‘Slap Ya Papa’. Together, the trio hope to provide a platform for all kinds of people to explore the culture of traditional Mezcal production, as well as taking a closer look at Mexican art, film and food.

With an agave-packed programme of events and tastings, London Mezcal Week is already generating a huge buzz. Already this week has seen sold out tastings and pairing with a very hotly anticipated ‘Future of Mezcal’ debate last night at The Bloomsbury Club accompanied of course by a blind tasting!

But LMW really starts ramping up from today. If you have been lucky enough to snap up a ticket for the sold out Bartender’s Brunch today at Cafe Pacifico, then all I can say, is I hate you, cos I have to work this afternoon! And if like me, you’re missing out, fear not, the heart of the beast is just around the corner. The undoubted highlight of LMW the Mezcal Festival! This promises to be one hell of a party, so get your tickets while you can!

London Mezcal Week culminates with a two day celebration of Mezcal. Open from 12pm-10pm on both Saturday & Sunday, here you will find a selection of London’s best Mexican food from Bad Sports and Temper, a pop up Mezcal bar serving delicious custom designed cocktails, art workshops, DJS and more!

If you want to delve deeper and learn more about Mezcal, purchase a ticket that will guarantee you entry into the UK’s biggest ever Mezcal tasting room, featuring over 30 mezcals. Here you can talk to many of the faces behind the brands and try as many of the Mezcals as you can handle – we do not recommend trying all 30. A limited edition Bottle Shop will be open should you wish to take some of the magical liquor home with you.

The Tasting Room will be open from 12pm – 6pm each day. Ticket holders will be able to book either 12pm-3pm or 3pm-6pm when they buy their day ticket on either Saturday or Sunday. Tasting Room Tickets £20.
